The World Discovered Park City during the 2002 Salt Lake Olympics. Park City was originally an old silver mining town which originated shortly after silver was found in 1868. At one time there were over 300 mines in operation. Declining mining prices led to the opening of the first Ski resort in 1963. There are now 3 famous ski resorts within 10 minutes of each other with the town of Park City filled with fine art galleries and resturants.
